Marriage is a partnership. It can be a delicate and tricky thing to balance work and marriage. I'm so fortunate to have an awesome husband. He completely supported my decision to leave teaching and enter the unpredictable world of small business ownership almost 5 years ago. So far, so good. While I am mostly a one-woman shop, working with clients and photographing sessions and events on my own, I do occasionally need an assistant. Lucky for me, my husband is a great assistant! He knows me and he knows my gear. He knows where everything is and more importantly, how to put things together and take things apart. 

He's also great to work with as he often reads my mind and will ask the right question before I say anything. 

When I have an event scheduled that requires an assistant, I often think of him first. It's a kind of guilty pleasure, but in all honesty, he's simply a great asset to my business in those situations. He already has a job, though, so is not always available to work with me. 

He's also great fun to have a drink with after we're done.
